Back in Black

I'm back in black this week, I know I've been a bit quite recently, I know. Last Thursday I handed in my dissertation for university (basically a super long and important essay right at the end of degree) and then on Friday I managed to get the flu and was stuck in bed all weekend. Thankfully I am now on the mend and I couldn't wait to show off some of my new purchases.

Like most people, my comfort zone is wearing black. It makes everything feel classier and you don't need to be worrying about getting everything to match. Netting and mesh are huge trends for Spring 2016, you might have seen it on the Valentino or  Stella McCartney runway as it is everywhere. The style is flirty as it appears like lingerie with a glimpse of skin, perfect for sunny days.

This River Island mesh bodysuit won me over in seconds, the netted pattern is so delicate and of course it has long sleeves. It's not often that I wear a top with so much cleavage but the long arms made it so much more wearable for me while also appearing classier. It feels a little grungy and quirky, a statement piece that when paired with basics looks amazing.

I've become a bit of a sucker for a choker, they are such a simple accessory for any outfit. With this outfit it fits in perfectly with the nineties grunge theme, it's plain and simple, just what is needed. It also works great in breaking up the large amount of skin on show without having a huge statement necklace that would just detract interest from the bodysuit.

Of course I wore a pair of simple high waisted jeans, due to the neckline of the bodysuit I didn't want to wear as skirt, unless it's a midi skirt for a big night out. For this look I wanted the jeans to tone down the top half to make it perfect for a meal out or drinks with the girls. By turned the jeans up at the ankles it also highlights the causal appearance of the jeans but is contrasted by the heels.

The heels are gorgeous right? I picked these up in the Very sale last week for only £20 with one of their frequent discount codes, almost half the price of what I've seen other people selling them at! Finishing the outfit off with a pair of stilettos just dresses the jeans up. The little tassel bits are so cute, they just seem like a sassier update of the classic sandals.
